It is the search for a tabula rasa- the ultimate ground for endless potential." -Cities from Zero Tlatehiin is an Arctic island that recently appeared due to the melting of icebergs, establishing itself as an independent country in the year 2000. It has reign over vast reserves of oil that lie at the bottom of the Arctic Ocean, only lately being accessible due to the rising temperatures. With its wealth, Tlatehiin has decided to model itself on the epitome of the globalized city by re-initiating the construction of cancelled building projects from across the globe; the world’s incomplete monuments to the capitalist system- incomplete due to the system’s very own failures. Tlatehiin will show off its new culture in a Snowglobe themed pavilion situated in the upcoming 2012 World Expo, telling the world how it is the most desirable place to be. process of Patricia Cain and Collaborators' exhibition; 'Drawing (on) Riverside' This film was made in cooperation with Isla Pedrana, to document Patricia Cain, 2010’s Threadneedle prizewinner, and her four collaborators' progression towards their exhibition in the Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow Scotland. The focus of this exhibition lies within the concept of process, which runs parallel with their underlying subject of Glasgow’s Riverside, and it’s previous history of shipbuilding. Hence, this documentary, as well as being a process within itself, had to encapsulate these various layers of processes. During that time, we had access to Li Xianting's Film Fund, which works on supporting and archiving Chinese independent films and documentaries which are otherwise not officially supported. After days of watching film after film, we started to work on a project which combined our environment as well as the resources available to us. ‘Replayed’ is an experiment intended to bridge the gap between Chinese independent cinema and the real-life experiences of which many of its themes address, reconnecting audience and cinema through projections in non-cinema spaces. A book was made to document our research process of finding locations suitable for each section of the film and narrative.
